Yeah, that was what Luz had been hoping for! She knew that Sakura was holding back a bit, and Sakura had seemed to sense she'd been doing the same. Now they were just duking it out fist to fist, and it was here that Luz DID do some kicks, so Sakura got to feel exactly how much a girl who's leg muscles had to be built to fly properly and carry animal feed felt like.
If Sakura wanted to protect her friends, she couldn’t hold back! Her fists and feet flew to block Luz’s attacks and counter back. If she could get in closer, she could grab her by the shirt and throw her…
Luz watched Sakura, seeing how she was trying to get her to lure closer. Right. That made sense. Sakura would expect that she would do it too, since she was a little taller and likely to think she could capitalize on Sakura. But Luz also knew her stamina, and where her strengths lay in that regard.
Luz opted to keep Sakura at bay, going for pointed kicks, rearing back enough when the girl attempted to press her and then going for well aimed hits that kept Sakura at arm's length.
Luz knew how to fight, to keep away. She didn’t have the same reach she did, thus it was easier for Luz to play keepaway. But, that also meant that she could use her limbs against her.
She would go to grab one arm and attempt to pull her in and strike her in the chest.
That was a good idea, but Luz was ready for this too.
When Sakura pulled her in, Luz ducked her head down and pushed her forearm against the attack, positioning her legs to trip up Sakura and use her momentum to knock her down.
Luz knew that was comforting: heck, she was a bit of fan of that herself, moreso since her hair was on the short side.
"Yeah, it would. You can't get any better without someone here to train you. You can find people who'll get you stronger, but you could really use a teacher."
Luz wished she was that good, but there was still plenty she needed to learn.
"It shows how serious you are about the fight!" Luz said, stretching her arms. "We got pretty banged up, after all. I think we both could use a swim, and then some healing. Have you gotten better at that, by the way?"
"That's the hope, right? If you drank the potion, you slowly start to get better at what it does! I'm glad that you've gotten better though: pretty sure that will come in handy in a place like this."
Luz rose up, looking over at the shore, a grin on her face.

Sakura should have seen it coming and, instead, found herself being tripped up and landing back first on the sand.
“Ugh, stupid scrawny limbs…”

"Don't be so hard on yourself, you're only thirteen! You'll be much stronger than I am when you're my age!"

Luz idly drummed her fingers over Sakura's hair. "I can see where you're a ninja! Do you have someone helping you train here too?"

“No, not yet. I should, though. It would really help in the long run.”

"We can also keep sparring along the way to see how we've improved."
no subject
She nodded. "Of course. This doesn't have to be a one time thing. You can even spar with other people if they agree and you think it helps!"
no subject
She looked up at Luz, smiling at her. "I would be happy to spar with you as long as you want. Whatever you want, I'll do it."

Luz chuckled. "I think we said we'd have a swim after, remember? Besides, we'll have time to spar later on. Today was our first of many!"
It reminded Luz of how much more she wanted to train, anyway. Sakura wasn't the only one that needed work there, even if Luz was getting stronger.

“I think I can heal much better now!”

"I had a feeling. Wanna start by attempting to heal me? I got pretty scraped up from our fight."

And she'll take Luz's hands, focusing her magic onto her, mending her wounds as she did.

Luz watched the girl work her magic, taking a few breaths herself, her mind wandering to the type of healing she'd seen in the Boiling Isles.

I wish I had a drawing of her in this form. Think of "Luca," but Luz, with purple skin.
Ah-ha! I think I got the idea!
